Description

The Lahti M35 service pistol was first put in service in Finland in 1935. When the supply of German P-38's dried up due to Germany's war effort, Sweden adopted the Lahti design and began production of what they called the Model 40 in 1940. This is one of several that I have owned and all have shown remarkable quality of fit and finish for a Service Pistol.

The blued metal finish is of commercial quality and rates an easy 97%. The grips exhibit sharp checkering, are free of cracks and chips and contain the Husqvarna logo. They are virtually perfect. As can be seen in the photos, the pistol is accompanied by its original leather holster containing 2 spare magazines. Sorry, the multi tool and cleaning rod are not present. Rifling is sharp and clean and the pistol shows very little sign of use.
The leather holster is supple and the stiching is intact and strong. A name, presumably the soldier to whom the pistol was issued, is written on the inside of the flap.

The acceptance stamp above the lanyard loop is a crown with the initials SS below it. According to an article published by a former Swedish Armorer, the SS stands for Sture Stenmo an inspector prior to 31./3.1946. There are 2 Dots stamped into the backstrap that indicate that this pistol received 2 of 3 modifications that were made over the service life. I have no idea what those mods were.
A very nice package in excellant overall condition.
